Stress can play a major role in Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC). Here's how you can help your cat:
Create high places & private spaces
Create a refuge where your cat can feel safe
Make sure each litter tray is clean & is big enough - at least 1.5 times your cat's body length
Place litter boxes in a quiet place far from food bowls
Praise good behaviour - don't punish your cat for accidents
Give your cat something to scratch. Scratching releases pheromones & makes cats feel happy
Keep your cat in shape - overweight cats have trouble jumping
Create a play area with toys & other items to keep your cat active
Indoor cats can become bored so, make sure they can view the outside world
If you have more than one cat, make sure you have enough food, water, litter boxes & safe places for all of them!
