Cooks Hill Veterinary Clinic Hero of the Month: April

Meet Lenny

Lenny is a four-year-old Labrador Retriever, who has been coming to our clinic ever since his first puppy vaccination.

Lenny presented to us in February 2023 for a lump check on his front left foot.

A biopsy of the mass diagnosed it to be a soft tissue sarcoma.

* " A soft tissue sarcoma is a malignant cancer that arises from body tissues such as blood vessels, muscle, connective tissue and fatty tissue, among a range of other tissues"

Due to the location of the mass, we were unable to get a complete incision of the mass.

So, after many discussions between our Veterinarians and the owners, it was elected to go ahead with limb amputation.

The hope was to remove the remaining cells of the soft tissue sarcoma to make Lenny as comfortable as possible and prevent reoccurance.

Lenny underwent his amputation surgery at the end of March, and we are extremely happy to announce that he is recovering great!

His wound has healed incredibly well, and he is adapting well to life with three legs!
