Hero of the Month - July
Meet Rexy
Rexy, a 5-year-old Lhasa Apso, has been a valued patient with us since he was just 11 weeks old. In late June, Rexy presented to the Animal Referral and Emergency Centre in Broadmeadow after a home accident resulted in lameness. X-rays confirmed there were no fractures, but a significant hip dislocation was found that required surgical intervention.
Rexy went home with pain relief and strict rest orders, before coming to us at Cooks Hill Vet for surgery a few days later. Dr. Darren successfully performed a surgical repair using a Liger fibre hip toggle implant to stabilise the hip. After the surgery, Rexy received post-operative care at Cooks Hill Vet Clinic, and he has been making great progress.
Check out Rexy's journey:
1. Rexy on the day of the surgery: Cozy in a fluffy blanket, and an x-ray showing the dislocated hip.
2. Rexy just after surgery: At his 2-week post-op appointment for staple removal and a follow-up check, plus a post-surgical x-ray from the day of the procedure showing the newly placed implant.
We’re proud to feature Rexy as our Hero of the Month for his bravery and resilience!
